Hudsonian Godwit

The Hudsonian species can be differentiated from the Black-tailed Godwits by the dark flanks and under belly and the black underwing panel when in flight.

Hudsonian Godwit with a group of Black-tailed Godwits, Meare Heath, Somerset.

Only two previous accepted reports, in the UK, of this Mega rare species from the Americas.

For most of the time during our visit the Godwit slept but  did feed on two brief occasions and also entertained us with a couple of flights around the Scrape.
See this link for further information  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudsonian_godwit

Also seen were Great White Egret, Cetti's Warbler, Garganey and an astonishing twenty-five(at least) Hobbies hunting over a Reed Bed
